Sea Pines Resort
Sea Pines Resort is the oldest resort on the Hilton Head Island. It is home to the PGA Tours RBC Heritage Golf Tournament and has over 43 years of history, securing its reputation as the top golfing destination on the island. The resort covers an area of 5000 acres of sea front bliss while taking up one third of the whole island. Accommodation in the resort is diverse and tries to provide accommodation to suit all. There is the 5 Star Harbour Inn with its 60 rooms, showing off its luxurious furnishings and modern amenities. The 60 guest rooms are made up of standard rooms and suites and all are available with a personalised, attentive butler service. If you prefer more space and a little privacy, there are also rental properties available for the self-catering option. You will not go hungry at the Sea Pines Resort as there are six restaurants to choose from, all serving quality food with children’s options also available. Harbour Town links (18 hole 71 par. 7101 yds Links)
This course is home to the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament and has been since 1969. The course, which is stunning in beauty as well as difficulty, will certainly give the average Golfer a testing time but that is all part of the fun. All of the par 3’s on the course are thought by many experts to be the most difficult group of par 3’s ever assembled on one course. The par 4, 18th hole with that famous red and white lighthouse at the back of the green is thought to be one of the toughest finishing holes on the PGA Tour circuit. It is a course that you have to try out.
Heron Point. (18 hole. 72 par. 7103 yds)
Heron Point has been recently transformed by the legendary Peter Dye. This new course, which has been likened to the famous TPC Sawgrass course has been described as a modern work of art. The course, which is a challenge to any golfer, is also very pleasing to the eye. The undulating fairways and the shifting elevations make this course a very memorable and enjoyable experience.
Atlantic Dunes (18 hole. 72 par. 7010 yds)
Originally, this course was known as the historic Ocean course before being redeveloped and renamed Atlantic Dunes. The use of natural dunes and the introduction of many indigenous plants has assisted this course to improve on its reputation. The course has been improved both visually and strategically making it a challenge for any golfer.
Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort
Palmetto Dunes Ocean Front resort offer a wide range of four Star Villa options. The villas range from 1 – 4 bedrooms with private pools and gymnasiums. In the resort, there are two eateries they are the Dunes House, which is a relaxed atmosphere restaurant with spectacular ocean views, and the other is Big Jim’s Burger & Pizza restaurant situated at Robert Trent Jones golf club. If you fancy going into town there are many stunning restaurants to be explored just a 20-minute drive away. There are three championship golf courses on site.
Robert Trent Jones Golf Course (18 hole. 72 par. 7005 yds Parkland)
Since being renovated in 2002, this course has won many awards. A water lagoon meanders through 11 of the 18 holes, which makes the course very interesting. The spectacular 10th hole is the signature hole offering a par 5, which plays along the oceanfront delivering breath taking views. This course is set out with enjoyment in mind. It’s challenging but well worth the effort. A must play.
George Fazio Course. (18 hole. 70 par. 6873 yds Parkland)
Voted in the top 100 courses in America, this Hilton Head course requires a cool temperament, a strategy and precision to pick your way around and stay out of trouble. The course is close to 7000 yards long and only a par 70 so you can guess some of the par 4’s are long and testing. The par 3’s are no easier especially the 17th which, at 230 yards will test your accuracy and nerve as you try to complete a decent round of golf. This is another great course that has been designed to challenge you in every way.
Arthur Hills Course (18 hole. 72 par. 6651 yds Parkland)
Claim to fame for this course is that both Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have walked the fairways here. This great course will certainly provide any Golfer with an enjoyable and memorable round of Golf .
Set around the picturesque yacht basin is Harbour Town, it has exclusive luxury shopping outlets. There are Signature Jewellers, home décor boutiques, art galleries selling one off art works and custom gift and craft shops. Sitting next to these fine establishments are top quality restaurants and casual outdoor cafes selling fresh seafood, perfectly grilled steaks, grilled sandwiches and salads to order. They also have children’s food and many other tasty offerings.
The busy Harbour Town waterfront is the place to find something different to experience. Why not go out on a boat to see the Dolphins or an Adventure and Dinner Cruise, Kayak tours or Charter a fishing boat to tackle the high seas armed with a fishing rod and the sun on your back.
