The Avalon Golf Estate opened its doors in December 2015, as one of the newest golf courses on the island its golf course designer Peter Matkovich made great use of the natural landscape. The golf course in itself is quite wide and undulating with outstanding views to the south.

The golf course elevation means that the early risers tee-ing off first in the day will experience not only the rising sun, also low cloud, which mean it is cooler and breezier than many of the other courses on the island.

Across the entire course there are numerous changes in elevation, which means it is advisable to spend a little time on each tee-box, the views are outstanding and you appreciate the clever design brings out the best in the natural beauty of the golf course.

Standing on the first tee and playing the first few holes you get the impression that with the wider fairways it is an easy golf course. However the fourth hole is the Signature hole and from an elevated tee you immediately spot the river cutting across the fairway with a pot bunker on the eft distracting the eye. Thick vegetation lines the left side of the fairway with the more forgiving right-hand side at just under 300 yards this par 4 is niot the longest, but certainly a great test when you can take your eyes of the views.

Before golf a snack and a drink is always welcome an be tken in the cosy Bunker restaurants. Should you be waiting until after golf for that well-earned meal should be enjoyed in the impressive Magic Spoon restaurant, a larger area abive the Bunker with highly recommended outstanding food and great views too.
