Hermanus Golf Club

Hermanus Golf Club is one the oldest and most established golf clubs in South Africa originally opening its doors in 1907, a new clubhouse arrived in 1923 and the golf course became an 18 hole one in 1937. Over the years thereafter, the popularity of the course attracted golfers from all over the world and the most famous the late Sam Snead and Bobby Lock.

In 2007 the golf course was re-modeled by Peter Matkovich re-opening the golf course to the fantastic 27 holes East, North, and South that we see today. A private golf course and located in an area more famed for whale watching, the golf course is available to the public. Another course to be added to the never-ending bucket list.

To maximise potential in this scenic and gentle landscape, Peter Matkovich infused his special brand of flair and experience. The aesthetically attractive implementation of grassy mounds adds definition and texture to the holes. He also introduced superb new greens and bunkering.

Many golf visitors visit here because the course has built up a reputation all year round for being in excellent condition. The 18-hole course at Hermanus Golf Club is a visual treat with lovely fairways, lots of trees and beautiful water hazards.

The course does not only challenge you, but you are also compensated, hole after hole, with spectacular views overlooking the glistening ocean and adding to the charm of the course is the capacity to see the spraying of seasonal whales as you stroll through the course. Hermanus’ population swells 5 folds during the whale season. Tee times sell very quickly during this season.

Set in a charming fishing village on Walker Bay, renowned for fantastic whale-watching. A scenic course and a challenge for all levels of golfer.
