Al Hamra Golf Club
The Al Hamra Golf Club is an 18 hole championship golf course designed by Peter Harradine, it opened its doors in 2007 so a relatively young course. The golf course is designed around four natural water lagoons which runs seemlessly into the Arabian Gulf. In traditional style as many courses do the front nine run out from the golf clubhouse and the back nine wind their way around the lagoon and back to the clubhouse.
Measuring some 7,400 yards at its tips, it is a golf course designed for golfers of varying levels as it has no less than five tee-box positions on each hole.
Originally based to built on the salt flats some 5 million cubic metres of sand were brought in to create contouring and different elevation changes making the course a great challenge.
Al Hamra was chosen in 2016 as the original Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final, before going on to then host the Challenge Tour through to 2018.
In 2022 due to Covid 19 restrictions the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters was cancelled from the “Middle East Swing” and DP Tour, and in its place Al Hamra Golf Club was chosen and hosted the Ras Al Khaimah Classic. In 2023, 2024 and 2025 the golf course hosted the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, an official DPWorld Tour event.
