Recommended Golf Breaks in Barbados

Barbados is situated in the Eastern Caribbean some 62 miles East of the Windward Islands, the island is just 21 miles long and 14 miles wide and is now a British Commonwealth Nation. The island-like many Caribbean Islands have beauty abound, with crystal clear waters, sugar sand beaches, famous international cricket ground at Bridgetown to name but a few. Some of the best golf courses in the Caribbean can be found in Barbados with the likes of Royal Westmoreland, Sandy Lane, and more, in fact, please read on for our personal and preferential choices.

Where Can I Stay In Barbados?

Barbados as an island has the majority of its Hotels on either its South Coast which has beautiful beaches which slope steeply into the crystal clear the Caribbean Sea, or up on the West Coast which is where you will find the flatter more open beaches and where more of the Five Star Hotels are located including the like of Sandy Lane, it is also where you will find the best golf courses too. The Eastern side of the rugged has a more rugged coastline and is a great place to go hiking or walking along, it has only a few Hotels, and the sea is not recommended for swimming due to strong offshore currents.

When is the Best Time to Play Golf in Barbados?

Barbados allows the British golfer to play golf all year round, due to the winter months’ balmy climate. Our recommendation is to travel between December and March when the weather is at its best for golf. You should have little or no rain at this time of year, and the temperature will be pleasant enough to play golf in.

What Else Can I Do Apart From Play Golf?

The sea plays a huge part in lifestyle on the island and is a fantastic place to boogie board, snorkelling, sailing, Kayaking and of course those who enjoy a little more excitements jet skis too. We would recommend Oistins on a Friday for the famous “Oistins Fish Fry”  takes place, an excellent opportunity to mix with the locals and enjoy the very best catch-of-the day. Or go into Bridgetown and experience all that the capital has to offer as a former Garrison and great shopping at Harrisons to name one of and plenty of galleries to visit too.
