The La Quinta Resort needs very little in a way of introduction, In the golden era of cinema, you would have been rubbing shoulders with many a movie icon at La Quinta. The Mountain Course at La Quinta Resort & Club sits right in the heart of the resort alongside the other four golf courses that make up 90 holes of championship golf on offer and is one of not The largest golf resort in Palm Springs.

The Mountain Course, designed by Pete Dye nestles at the base of the beautiful Santa Rosa Mountains. The course is famed for its Pete Dye design, playability, and spectacular scenery. This ultra-challenging course features rock formations, pot bunkers, huge elevation drops from the tee boxes, changes of elevations from tee to tee boxes, and well-bunkered greens.

For a course, this good and its stature from its designer the first hole opens up as a relatively short par 4 where distance off the tee is not a factor. Ideally, you should aim your tee shot just left of the right fairway bunker to have the best look at this green. The first green is on a plateau and plays uphill on your second shot. Make sure you have enough club on your approach and approach from the right.

The Signature hole here and what a hole it is is the 16th hole at the Mountain course is a par 3 and so in keeping with what to expect when playing a Pete Dye golf course. This par 3 plays slightly downhill to a green shaped almost like a pear. At 167 yards from the championship tees, make sure to take one less club and play for the middle of the putting surface. A birdie is makeable…
