Best Mauritius Golf Course:  Ile Aux Cerfs Golf Course at Le Touessrok

Getting to Ile aux Cerfs is half the fun – you hop on a boat that takes you to what feels like your own private golf island. Once you’re there, it’s just jaw-dropping. Bernhard Langer really outdid himself with this design – you’re playing through these amazing volcanic rocks and mangroves, with the ocean peeking through at every turn.
The course is tough but fair – you’ll need to carry a few shots over water, but the views make up for any lost balls! That 18th hole is one you’ll remember forever – just you, your club, and this incredible backdrop of white sand meeting turquoise water. After your round, grab a cold drink at the beach club and soak it all in. Trust me, this isn’t just another day of golf – it’s an experience you’ll be talking about for years.

When you land in Mauritius, the first thing that hits you is how calm everything feels — even before you’ve teed it up. The golf here is different. You’re playing championship layouts, but nothing feels rushed or crowded. My favourite stretch is still the closing holes at Anahita. Els designed those oceanside holes beautifully — wide off the tee but demanding on your approach. When the light hits the water late afternoon, it’s as good as anywhere I’ve played.

Heritage Le Château is another standout. Matkovich routed it through natural valleys with the ocean in view on the high points — and when a course has hosted the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open more than once, you know it’s the real deal. Ile aux Cerfs is the wild card — it’s just pure fun. Arriving by boat, playing across mangroves, and somehow finding your ball in places you don’t expect. It feels adventurous without being gimmicky.

If you’re deciding where to stay, Belle Mare Plage is unbeatable for value and sheer golf volume, while Prince Maurice is the refined option for couples. And if you’re looking for winter sun, Mauritius is the safest bet I know — October and November are flawless, averaging around 26°C with calm breezes.

If you love a blend of great golf, great weather and proper downtime, this island is very hard to beat.

Mauritius sits between 24–28°C for most of the year, with the dry, calm months of May to October offering perfect golf conditions.

May – June

Ideal golfing weather: warm, calm days and excellent value at the luxury resorts.

July – September

Cooler, breezy but beautifully clear — perfect for relaxed resort golf and better package prices.

October – November

Peak season for course conditions. The best months for Heritage, Ile aux Cerfs and Anahita.

December – April

Warm and tropical; early December is superb, but Jan–Mar can bring humidity and occasional storms.
