Estoril Golf Course
The Estoril golf course is the most established golf course on the Lisbon coast and has a very good membership following. Guests of the Estoril Palacio Hotel alongside Members get priority golf tee-times.
This par 69, 18 Holes of Parkland course was designed by Phillip Mackenzie Ross and opened as such in 1945. The origins of the course however, go back to the initial design by Jean Gassiat in 1929.
Accuracy off the tee are essential here with tight lines between the Pines, Eucalyptus and Mimosa trees, strategic placement ready for your second shot are key – distance is not imperative here. A great test of golf with changes in elevation frequent, a testing course yet an easily walkable one with it being the longest of courses in thje area.
One thing for sure is its pedigree, Estoril Golf Course has hosted the most Portuguese Opens, more than any other course with no less than 20 its heydays between 1953 – 1982 with last being held in 1987, won by Robert Lee.
