Mount Edgecombe Country Club

Mount Edgecombe Country Club has two 18-hole championship courses, with Course One having been upgraded about 20 years ago when the Mount Edgecombe residential estate was first developed. Mount Edgecombe Course One is a parkland layout that has hosted numerous amateur as well as professional tournaments and will therefore test any level of golfer. With four sets of tees, the course is accessible to golfers of all skill levels. Three holes deserve special mention because they form No. 1’s “Amen Corner” between the 14th and 16th holes. The first of these is a par five with water protecting the green, followed by a par three with a full carry across more water. The 16th hole, which completes this trio of difficult holes, is a difficult two-shotter where the tee shot must avoid a small dam en route to the green..

The design for the second championship golf course began in 1994. The championship course, located directly south of the established Estate 1 course, was designed by Daysen, De Villiers, and Van der Merwe. Course 2 opened at the end of 1997 and is far more undulated and different from the estate’s No. 1 course, with native bush in places and a proportion of water hazards strategically placed to catch out even the best golfers. This course has its own small clubhouse that overlooks the Pani Dam, where you can see fish eagles.
