The Links at Spanish Bay

The Links at Spanish Bay™ is indeed a genuine Top 100 public course layout with a lot of charm, and wrongly by some considered the 3rd wheel at the Pebble Beach Resort. Opened for play in 1987, the coastline Scottish links-style layout presents a compelling experience. Very different from the other nearby resort courses of Pebble Beach golf links and Spyglass Hill by enabling players to use either their aerial game.

Links is an old Scottish word for sandy wasteland, usually near the sea, with bristly grasses and ever prevailing wind. The Links at Spanish Bay are so authentic that even the Monterey coastline in the USA mirrors Scotland’s rugged, natural beauty. Here, the golf course provides you with the choice of using your regular shot or a low, running shot to play the firm turf while keeping the ball under the steady ocean breezes. The Links at Spanish Bay was also built with a deep respect for environmental preservation and designated “environmentally sensitive” areas. Drops are allowed outside of these areas, to help preserve the native plants, birds, and animals that make this course so unique.

Stunning Golf at Spanish Bay

Although Spanish Bay is not as famous as its neighbours, being the third-best course at Pebble Beach Resort is like being the third-best course at Bandon Dunes Resort, making it better than the best course 95% of America’s golf resorts.

The 6th hole at the Spanish Bay (Sandy)  is a par four at bang on 400 yards.  Eight bunkers have been placed down the right-hand side of this great hole, ensuring that golfers are discouraged from attempting the shortcut. The sensible play is to take aim at the 150 markers and make sure that an uphill shot to this well-protected green.
