Saddlebrook Resort Palmer Course

The Palmer Course at Saddlebrook opened in 1986 and is a classic Arnold Palmer design. Don’t be fooled by the 6,641 yards on this par 71 Arnold Palmer Golf Course. Although many of the holes offer gracious landing areas from the tee box, playing your second shot from a flat lie is uncommon and the firm emerald fairways are sculpted to encompass a rolling New England course. Approaching the green from the sloping fairways is a real test of skill. The small elevated putting surfaces are framed by white-faced bunkers, turquoise ponds and slowly swaying palm trees.

Hilly lies and sweeping Florida breezes make it difficult to achieve the precision needed to find these targets. The Tif-eagle greens are firm, quick, and sinuous, allowing only a buttery shot to hold their surface. Surrounding the greens, the thick, Bermuda rough wraps around the club and makes playing the soft shot needed a further challenge. Miss the green, and you face a difficult par. Several holes require lengthy tee shots but importantly all reward finesse.

Saddlebrook Golf is known worldwide for its iconic greens, offering difficulties and fairways that impress both beginners and professionals alike. The well-planned resort design means that the first tees of both courses and the 10th tee of the Saddlebrook Course are located in the centre of the resort, as are both the 18th holes.
