TPC Scottsdale Champions Course
The TPC Scottsdale is a PGA Tour facility that represents the principles of perfection worldwide in golf course practices. The two designs include the Stadium Course the annual host of the Phoenix Open since 1987 (now named the Phoenix Waste Management Open which is one of golf’s biggest spectacles and most-watched PGA Tour events and the nearby Champions Course. The layout of the Champions is situated just 1/2 mile from the main clubhouse and features a stunning scenery design that is playable for golfers of all levels.
The Champions golf course here in Scottsdale is by no means a poor second to the Stadium course with many golfers preferring this layout. This Randy Heckenkemper designed 18-hole Championship challenge the course is built upon the site of the former Desert course and in 2007 was completely revamped to flow more with the natural terrain and create the opportunity of keeping the attention of all golfers as the round progresses. The last four holes here are unprecedented, with the best of golfers getting the proverbial goose-bumps.
The Champions Course’s conditioning and elegance are also reflective of TPC standard. This layout is extremely appealing because of the combination of mountains, desert, and water, and the shorter, more open design ensures that a broader variety of golfers will enjoy a round here.
The fairways are often characterised by beautifully landscaped desert areas and provide some acceptable forced carry’s from the tee’s and on the approach shots. But even for the inexperienced player, who can get a taste of playing championship desert-style golf without losing a bag full of golf balls. the landing areas are adequate. In a manicured desert setting, the tee areas are landscaped, and the mountain views are the same that golfers can find across the street at the Stadium course.
This course is absolutely a must-play golf course in Arizona and perfectly paired with the stadium course to create a bucket list experience golf holiday.
