Heron Point By Pete Dye

Designed by legendary course architect Pete Dye, Heron Point is the centrepiece of any Hilton Head Island golf trip. Dye himself supervised Heron Point’s recent modifications to make the course more player-friendly. The result is an award-winning stroke of genius.

Heron Point by Pete Dye is the byproduct of a multi-million dollar restoration program in 2007. Ultimately, a spectacular transition of The Sea Pines Resort’s initial Sea Marsh Golf Course. Pete Dye’s imagination and artistic talent are shown at every point on the golf course.

Heron Point Links in Hilton Head

At 7,035 yards from the back tees, this Championship course can play considerably shorter if needed with seven sets of tees on each hole. Golfers are challenged by risk-reward long and short holes, fairways that move toward and away from hazards.  Dye’s ubiquitous mounding and swales framing target areas.

Not only did Pete Dye redeem the golf course, he further gave it its teeth. Dye was obliged to use the original hole routes, but you could remember very little else from the old Sea Marsh. It’s a vastly different golf course.

The 18th is reflective of Dye’s 18th at TPC Sawgrass. However, the bunker on the water’s good acts as a nice buffer for the tee shots pulled to the left.
